Coal River - Base of the falls
Get ready for an exciting adventure outdoors! The day commences with a vigorous 3+ mile walk all along the rugged trails. You can have a chance to see the old cabin ruins from the gold rush era built by gold prospectors in the late 1800's. Take in all the beautiful sights of the rapids along the river and the wonderful landscapes. A seasoned guide will accompany all those wishing to do this adventure as there is an abundance of wildlife including bears, cougars, and wolves in the area, and can be quite tricky to navigate around. The final destination along the Portage Brule Rapids, is to take in and relax in some of the hot pools nearby. This trek is approximately 7 miles in length.
Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to find gold in the bottom of a pan of gravel just like the prospectors from decades ago??? How about trying your luck at gold panning from both the Coal River and the Liard River? Demonstrations will be offered at the lodge, along with the necessary rental equipment needed. These excursions are available in season only.
Grab your gear and head out along the rivers to catch some fish. Trout, Greyling, and Whitefish are in abundance.
